Sustainable Coffee

What makes our coffee sustainable

The coffee industry ranks among the most significant global commercial value chains, supporting millions of livelihoods across producing and consuming countries. However, it also faces a range of complex social, economic, and ecological challenges that threaten its long-term sustainability. These include issues such as labor exploitation, income instability for farmers, deforestation, and significant carbon emissions. After all, billions of kilograms of carbon dioxide are emitted every year from coffee roasting alone—posing a major obstacle to truly sustainable coffee production.

In response to these concerns, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting a more ecological coffee supply chain. We prioritize the health of our planet by sourcing green coffee through transparent, traceable channels, ensuring ethical practices at origin. Additionally, we use fully recyclable packaging materials to minimize waste, and our roasting operations are powered entirely by renewable energy. Through these actions, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable future for coffee and for the planet.

Electric Roaster

The vast majority of coffee is currently roasted using gas, which isn't sustainable for our planet. That's why we've chosen the Electric Bellwether Coffee Roaster. By sourcing our electricity from renewable sources, we ensure our coffee production has minimal environmental impact while delivering exceptional quality.

Fair Trade Coffee

We believe in complete transparency and fair trade practices throughout our coffee supply chain. That's why we've partnered with Bellwether, whose Living Income Pricing initiative ensures farmers receive fair compensation that supports a sustainable livelihood. This partnership allows us to maintain full traceability of our coffee while directly supporting the communities that grow our beans.

Fully recyclable Packaging

To ensure our coffee doesn't harm our planet, we've chosen fully recyclable packaging. You might wonder: wouldn't compostable packaging be better? The answer is both yes and no.

While compostable packaging sounds ideal, it often requires very specific conditions to break down properly—conditions that aren't easily achieved without industrial composting facilities or dedicated home compost systems. What's more, research shows that producing compostable packaging often generates a higher carbon footprint than manufacturing fully recyclable alternatives.

That's why we've committed to fully recyclable packaging while continuously searching for even better solutions. Our planet deserves nothing less than our ongoing dedication to finding the most sustainable options available.
